Hello Church Family,

God is good! Now more than ever, we need to maintain our faith in Almighty God. I know that these are very trying times and as mentioned in the sermon message last week, there will certainly be some inconveniences, heartbreak and pain in the coming days as there would be a disruption to what we often think of as normalcy. We recently studied as the Apostle Paul encouraged the church at Philippi to be worthy of the gospel, standing firm in unity, putting the needs of others ahead of our own as we let the light of Jesus shine through us to a crooked and perverse generation.

The time to shine is now New Hope family. Although, the deacons and myself have been in communication to discuss the decision of whether or not to hold worship services in the coming weeks, it was taken out of our hands when Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued an Executive Order GA-08 at noon Thursday that prohibits all gatherings of 10 or more from March 20th through April 3rd. This means that we will not meet for worship for the next two Sundays (March 22nd and 29th).

We will update you of our next worship service once the Governor’s office releases the next update on April 3rd. While this is in the best interest of our physical health, it is very important that we continue to nurture our spiritual health as well. As a Church body we will not be physically gathering, but we can keep spiritually healthy through our daily time spent in God’s Word and in fervent prayer for each other.

I am asking you all to be not only praying for one another, but also stay in communication with one another by calling on the telephone, emailing, texting or instant messaging on Facebook or other social media platforms. It is imperative that if any of our brothers or sisters are in need that we are all there to pick-up and help out as we are able. That might mean helping with rides to the doctor, picking up prescriptions or going to the grocery store to “attempt” to gather supplies that are needed.

Remember, this is a time when we can shine our light for Christ and be worthy of the gospel. Now, more than any time in recent history, people who do not have a relationship with Jesus are afraid and they are wanting answers. We have the answer and His name is Jesus Christ. We must be ready to share the hope and joy that each one of us have in Christ. By putting the needs and desires of others ahead of our own, we will see God work in miraculous ways in these very trying times.

As always, I am here for you night or day. Feel free to reach out to me with questions or concerns and I look forward to the day not too long from now when we will gather again and worship our Mighty God. Always remember that God is good.

Peace and Blessings to you and your family,

Brother Mike
